The Worldwide Barefoot Project

Yanni has teamed up with a charity called The Worldwide Barefoot Project to help people around the world who do not have gear to play the sport they love.

My auntie’s friend and my mentor, Danny Ligairi, started the project. When I first heard about it, I couldn’t believe how many children and families don’t have proper shoes. I’ve always had trainers or boots for sports and school, so it made me stop and think how different life would be without them.

That’s why I wanted to help. It feels really good to give back. It’s not just about shoes, it’s about helping people feel safe, confident, and ready to do things that are hard to do when you don’t even have shoes on your feet.

Barefoot doesn’t just give clothes and shoes to kids and families who need them. They also want to make sure that sportswear can be recycled so it’s better for the planet. Barefoot shows that you can still play sports, look good, and also help the Earth at the same time.

Why the Worldwide Barefoot Project is Important

Over the next few months, Barefoot is trying to:

  • Tell more people all over the world about what they do.
  • Make sure the way clothes are shipped doesn’t hurt the environment.
  • Teach kids and families about how clothes can affect the planet, and how we can all make better choices.

How You Can Help

You can join in too!

  • Bring shoes or sports kit you don’t use anymore.
  • Tell your friends and family about Barefoot.
  • Look for collection points at every event that Yanny goes to — you can drop off your donations there.

I’m only twelve, but being part of Barefoot makes me feel like I’m helping to change the world. And if I can do it, you can too.

Why It Matters

Shoes help people walk to school, play safely, and work without getting hurt. It’s something small to us, but it can change a person’s whole life.
